Linking young asylum seekers and refugees to youth work opportunities in their area

The National Youth Council of Ireland has developed a range of county based leaflets to give information to help young asylum seekers and refugees find out how to get involved with a youth group in their area. It lists a number of youth organisations in each county.

Sometimes the youth group will be some distance from where young people live. We hope that these distances can be managed through local networking and cooperation and with the support of the Managers at the Centres.

We hope that youth organisations will also use the information in the leaflets to see where they can increase their engagement with asylum seekers and refugees. The contact details of  Accommodation Centre managers are included and they will be interested to hear from youth organisations.

NYCI is really keen to add information of opportunities that we are unaware of. If your youth group can reach out to young asylum seekers and refugees in your area and you want to be included in our leaflets please contact us at

NYCI would like to thank the Department of Justice who supported this project with information and Jesuit Refugee Service who collaborated on the development and dissemination of the leaflets.
